About Glancy’s No.1 Penetrating Oil

Glancy’s No.1 Penetrating Oil is an ultra penetrating oil for wood finishing. Formulated from high purity natural materials giving an oil that can penetrate deep into the wood fibers and completely saturate the wood with only a single coat. This creates a final finish built from within the wood fibers that highlights and enhances the natural color, grain and chatoyance of a piece of wood. An 8hr dry time allows for quick, easy and user friendly application that will result in a superior finish.

Application Instructions

Best applied to untreated bare wood, it is advisable to test on a nondescript or scrap piece of wood before applying the oil to your work. Shake the bottle well before use. Can be applied with your choice of medium, for best results use a lint free cloth or foam brush in a dry environment. 

To use Glancy’s No.1 as a complete finish: 

Apply a liberal amount allowing the oil to fully saturate and penetrate deep into the wood fibers. Allow the oil to sit for up to 10 minutes prior to wiping off all excess before the oil becomes tacky. Allow the oil to dry for 8 hours. Once completely dry sand with a high grit sandpaper or buff with 0000 steel wool then apply a second light coat by brushing or wiping on a thin layer of oil and letting that dry for a minimum of 8hrs. Repeat this for a minimum of 3 coats, do not worry too much about lines or discrepancies in the finish when applying because Glancy’s No.1 is self leveling.  If the final sheen is too glossy you can buff the finish lightly with 0000 steel wool for a matte finish or buff in wax to adjust to your desired sheen.  Glancy’s No.1 has a full cure time of 3 days depending on humidity and temperature so refrain from setting heavy objects on the completed finish for that time. 

To use the oil as a base coat: 

Apply a liberal amount allowing the oil to fully saturate and penetrate deep into the wood fibers. Allow the oil to sit for up to 10 minutes prior to wiping off all excess before the oil becomes tacky. Allow the oil to dry for 8 hours. Once completely dry sand with a high grit sandpaper or buff with 0000 steel wool before moving on to the next step in your finishing process.  


To use Glancy’s No.1 for a traditional Oil/Wax finish (perfect for outdoor use):

Apply a liberal amount allowing the oil to fully saturate and penetrate deep into the wood fibers. Allow the oil to sit for up to 10 minutes prior to wiping off all excess before the oil becomes tacky. Allow the oil to dry for 8 hours. Once completely dry sand with a high grit sandpaper or buff with 0000 steel wool then apply a second light coat by brushing or wiping on a thin layer of oil and letting that dry for a minimum of 8hrs.  Once completely dry sand with a high grit sandpaper or buff with 0000 steel wool then buff in your favorite wax as described by the manufacturer.

Precautions

  • Keep out of reach of children
  • Ensure that all cloths and application media are laid out to dry or wetted with water prior to disposal to reduce the risk of combustion. Do not wash excess oil down the drain.
  • It is advisable to wear gloves and apply oil in a well ventilated area. Wash hands thoroughly after use as product may cause irritation if exposed to skin. Store at room temperature (68-72F) when possible avoiding temperature extremes to extend the life of the product.
