About Us

Glancy’s Alchemy is a family owned and operated woodworking company. Owned by Chase Glancy who by day is a chemist and in his free time builds furniture and hand tools. Through combining a passion for chemistry and woodworking Glancy's Alchemy was formed. Faced with the task to develop a true penetrating wood finish our flagship product was designed. Realizing that there was no product on the market that could achieve the finish he desired for his work in less than 4-6 days because of dry time and number of coats needed he started down the process of how to change this.  After almost two years of research and trials he discovered our flagship product igniting the conception of Glancy’s Alchemy.  We take pride in the fact that our product is designed, sourced, manufactured, and bottled in the US.

Glancy’s penetrating oil was developed over 2 years through trial and error to  make it to a product that exhibited the  physical and chemical properties needed to penetrate deep into the wood fibers to allow oil to penetrate and completely saturate the wood pores without sacrificing any of the natural color of the wood.    Penetration and saturation of the wood is not the only thing that makes a difference in how an oil finish looks, another important part is the crystalline structure it leaves behind in the wood.  The more reflective the crystals left behind in the wood the more chatoyance and depth can be realized.  This oil was designed to imbed deep crystals in the wood through the natural polymerization of the materials.  The polymerization process for this oil is a process found in nature that uses oxygen and light to drive the process to completion. Our oil offers the ability to deeply imbed very reflective crystalline structures within the wood with no trade off of needing multiple coats or extensive drying times. Glancy's oil will achieve a beautiful finish with just one coat and dry time of only 8 hours leading to a product that is significantly more user friendly than  any product currently on the market.
